Also known as a Ardha Matsyendrasana is a mild twisting pose performed swirling the spine. In Sanskrit, “Ardha” means “half”, “matsyendra” is “king of fishes”, and “asana” refers to “pose”.

Step by step guide

  • Kneel, and sit with your arm to the right of your feet.
  • Lift the left leg over the right placing the foot against the outer side of the right knee.
  • Stretch arms out and twist to the left.
  • Now bring the right arm down on the outside of the left knee and hold your left foot with your right hand.
  • Exhale and twist as much as you can to the left while looking over your shoulder.
