The Escola di Capoeira Angola Cortiço do Abelha of Italy was born in early 2005 following the meeting which took place a year earlier between the capoeira group Axè de Palmares and Mestre Abelha, during one of the numerous internships organized by the group since its birth, six years ago. It was in October 2004 that the Axè de Palmares group came into contact with Mestre Abelha, one of the main exponents of Angolan capoeira in Maranhao, who at that time worked in Europe (between France and Holland) and organized a weekend with him. of capoeira. This meeting was followed by others, which led to the decision to rely totally on the philosophy of Angolan capoeira and on the fundamentos of Mestra Joao Pequeno di Pastinha, of which Mestre Abelha is a student. Mestre Abelha lives in Greece, and in all these years he has traveled to Italy to supervise the work done by the students of the Escola who, in his absence, teach: Professor Pombo and Treinel Poldo. To date, the Escola Cortiço do Abelha is present, as well as in Turin, in Perpignan ( FRANCE ), Sao Luis do Maranhao ( BRAZIL ) and Gold Coast ( AUSTRALIA ).
