Mutungo Capoeira Angola School



The School Mutungo Capoeira Angola was founded on June 13, 2009, having as main objective the exchange, transmission, distribution and promotion of Capoeira Angola knowledge, continuing his stay as african-Brazilian activity. The Angolan capoeira school understands capoeira as a legacy left by Africans and later practiced by their descendants and nowadays by different ethnic and social classes. In capoeira Angola we find several significant elements that place it as an Afro-Brazilian cultural practice. The angola capoeira school aims to foster various exchange, research, dissemination and knowledge transmission and promotion works through thematic workshops and experiences with old mestres, thus seeking their autonomy as an active group. Thus, the Angola capoeira school also aims to demonstrate capoeira as an intercultural practice of great relevance for the formation of Brazilian society. Understanding that their practice is a synthesis of a living and contemporary heritage from several different fields appropriate to their way of doing and being as a manifestation of African matrix, based on the totality of each person involved, constituting a unique knowledge to its practitioners.
