In 1998, with the beginning of a project in a Candomblé terreiro, so far the group had no defined name, the terreiro's pai de santo was called GITARAUÊ which in African language meant "Great secret of the Earth", he then suggested that his name was used.
After much research came to the name GRUPO DE CAPOEIRA GITÁ, made official in the same year.
