Capoeira Topazio was founded in 1988 by Raimundo dos Santos, known as Mestre Dinho. The group introduced new movements to capoeira and emphasized the importance of ground strokes and also introduced jiu-jitsu in capoeira training. Starting with five street children, the group has now spread to many different cities and countries such as Argentina, Mexico, USA, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Turkey and Australia, and has about 15,000 athletes worldwide. over.
