Grupo Capoeira Uniao started in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1985, and has branches in different parts of the globe these days such as in Mexico, Argentina, America, and etc. In 2016, the group co-founded its first ever branch in Asia together with Capoeira Cebu (Elemento De Capoeira, started 2003), the longest running capoeira community in the island of Cebu, dubbed as Uniao-Pilipinas, under the supervision of Mestre Calango.
