Manoel Olímpio de Souza, known in capoeira as Mestre Índio do Mercado Modelo, is the founder of the International Capoeira Oxóssi Group in the world. Born in Salvador da Bahia, he started practicing capoeira from a very young age in the streets of Salvador and founded the Oxóssi Group in 1968. The International Capoeira Oxóssi Group is now spread all over the world with branches in several Brazilian States, Chile, Uruguay, USA, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and UK.
