On May 12, 1985, Mestre Matias founded the Assoçiação Brasil Capoeira in Curvelo, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Four years later, when Mestre Matias settled in Switzerland, the Brasil Capoeira School was born. Mestre Matias still runs the Brasil Capoeira School from Bern, where the school's headquarters are located. The teachers trained by Mestre Matias opened branches in Europe and Brazil over the years. The branch in Biel / Bienne was opened in 2012 by Professor Mineiro. The Brasil Capoeira School can currently be found in Bern, Basel, Biel / Bienne, Bümpliz, Berlin (DE), Curvelo (BR), Düdingen, Inimutaba (BR), Lyon (FR), Murten, Palma de Mallorca (SP) and Thun (2019).
